Job Description:

The HSE and Facilities Coordinator is responsible for managing, supporting and monitoring the safe and effective operation of the facility. They will be responsible to ensure that the facility and operations complies with all regulatory requirements and Meggitt and site HSE policies and procedures. In support of this effort they will provide expert advice and guidance on OSHA, EPA & Maryland DEP regulatory compliance to the employees as required to ensure complete compliance. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for managing all facility infrastructure in accordance with local, state and federal requirements. Responsible for ensuring timely reporting and follow up to Accidents, Near Misses and Unsafe Conditions by frequent engagement with Daily Layered Accountability. There will be daily interaction with all levels of the organization with key site metrics updated daily/weekly/monthly. The coordinator will also provide monthly reporting to MPC SBU and Meggitt PLC safety organization; as well as, participate as required in Meggitt activities both regionally, within the SBU and across Meggitt PLC. The HS&E and Facilities coordinator will require daily interaction with many members of the operations team to support operational metrics aligned with Safety, Quality, Delivery & Productivity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Facilities Responsibilities:

  • Assists with maintaining daily operations of the physical facility.
  • Performs “handyman” maintenance duties such as furniture moves, simple electrical projects, spot painting and/or cleaning, light construction and/or exterior cleanup.
  • Coordinate and manages outside contractors for building, site and equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Operates site equipment as needed, using hand and power tools as necessary.
  • Ensure facility documentation such as power diagrams, network diagram, space usage, etc. is accurate and maintained.

HSE Responsibilities:

  • Be a subject matter expert in 6S. Work with functional leaders to perform 6S audits.
  • Lead and manage the Baltimore site safety committee including scheduling, agenda for meetings, maintain RAIL of all audit findings (internal and external) and ensure completion of tasks in a timely manner and in accordance with Meggitt standards for resolution.
  • Daily participation in DLA at the site board. Rotating participation at cell, value stream and functional boards to ensure consistency in DLA HSE standards.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement events and ensure HSE issues are considered.
  • Manage all required HSE training for site personnel. Maintain training schedule. Ensure proper training record retention. Specifically, interacting with a variety of departments, conducts training in emergency response and hazardous material handling.
  • Conduct presentations at the SLC weekly meeting and/or at the All Hands meeting as necessary to ensure a safety culture within the entire organization.
  • Support and perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) as required for manufacturing, shipping/receiving, test and other site operations. Maintain records of JSA activity.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Conducts Emergency Response Team (ERT) and other employee training in emergency response, life safety, industrial hygiene, and chemical and fire hazards.
  • Responds to emergencies, incidents and accidents; investigates causes and recommends corrective actions. Conducts safety surveys to identify and mitigate occupational hazards.
  • Completes required federal, state and local government reports relating to safety.
  • Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors, and may assist in consolidating hazardous wastes (chemical, radioactive, and/or medical).
  • Monitors environmental compliance and maintains liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Recommends corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist.
  • Responsibilities may also include industrial hygiene, life safety, and ergonomic compliance-related activities. Interacts with others in the administration of the worker’s compensation program and the implementation of workplace ergonomics and program solutions. Monitors industrial health compliance.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

 

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

 

 

1 year of experience in facility maintenance role and 1 year of experience in HSE function.

 

Computer Skills:

Basic PC knowledge, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint

 

 

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:

Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking. Position requires ability to frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.

 

 

The work site is an industrial manufacturing operation and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in some aspects of the role.

 

 

Work usually performed in air-conditioned office environment.
