Job Description:

HDT is recruiting a motivated individual who will specialize in grant/contract management to support the company’s future grants and contracts filings as well as support existing awards. The successful candidate will work as part of the Operations and Grants Management teams, which largely focus on facilitating the early-stage discovery, translation, and clinical development of cutting-edge immunotherapy products. This individual will work closely with the existing team and will be involved in all phases of the grant and contract life cycle, from pre-award post-award management, ensuring compliance and effective administration of grants and contracts. The role will offer an opportunity to foster partnership across the non-profit, for-profit, and federal sectors, aligning with current market incentives to engage diverse stakeholders. The individual will collaborate with other members of a creative research environment and participate in bringing next-generation innovative products to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop into, and serve, as a subject matter expert in the development and submission of grants/contracts management
  • Development and implementation and of resource tools, processes and best practices
  • Build meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including federal government, academic, and industry partners, to keep abreast of application and submission landscapes
  • Assist in infrastructural development of existing independent and collaborative research, translational, or clinical development grants/contracts, as well as proposal preparation and submissions
  • Support the entire lifecycle of grants and contracts, including pre-award, post-award, compliance, and closeout activities
  • Liaise with, and monitor, sub-contractors for development of submissions
  • Assist in the review and submission of pre-award items such as applications, Just-In-Time (JIT) requests, and other requests from Sponsors as needed
  • Partnering with the Grants, Programs and Finance teams to manage and forecast assigned grants’ budgets for accurate decision making in the allocation of grant/contract funds
  • Communicate continuously throughout the granting or contracting process with principal investigators and key team research members regarding their proposals/awards
  • Approach work with a strategic mindset, focusing on work that supports the broader company’s mission and objectives
  • Assists with project plans, ensuring all key business objectives, goals, deliverables and milestones are identified
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and negotiation skills in task-specific deliverables such as contracts discussions and project-related assignments
  • Working experience and knowledge base of regulations associated with federal agencies such as NIH, DoD, CDC, BARDA, USDA and NSF preferred

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the legal, compliance, and transparency requirements associated with federal grants and contracts
  • Ability to work in a clear and courageous way to manage difficult conversations though direct and constructive dialogue
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and negotiation skills in task-specific deliverables such as contracts, discussions, and project-related assignments
  • Ability to multi-task priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate impactful initiatives to stakeholder audience(s) through the proper channels and modes of communication

Education/Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in Grant Management, with consideration of tangential experience in Operations, Program Management, Finance, or Compliance in Research Administration
  • Bachelor’s in related functions (finance, accounting, business operations, etc.) preferred
