POSITION SUMMARY
The Donor Relations Manager at Can Do MS is responsible for achieving significant fundraising goals each year through effective donor stewardship and expansion of charitable support. This position plans and executes peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, including all fundraising events and DIY fundraising initiatives. The Donor Relations Manager serves as the primary point of contact for fundraisers, providing motivation, inspiration, support, and creativity to maximize the success of fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and mission.
This role also oversees the development and implementation of donor-centric communications for fundraising events. The Donor Relations Manager position is a remote, full-time position. Colorado applicants highly desired and strongly preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising
•Achieve $700,000 in annual fundraising goals.
•Responsibility and management of a portfolio of roughly 400 donors, including events peer-to-peerfundraisers. Provide exceptional stewardship and cultivate long-term relationships to increase giving and retention.
•Grow peer-to-peer fundraising in events and individual contributions.
•In collaboration with the Director of Development, oversee the development, production, and distribution of print and digital donor-centric communications, including but not limited to direct mail and email appeals, impact reports, stories, stewardship mailings (thank you, holiday, and birthday cards), and acknowledgment letters.
•Attend programs and actively engage with participants to gather impactful stories and outcomes to share with donors and enhance fundraising efforts.
•Design and manage the deployment of campaign-specific donation forms using Raiser's Edge NXT.
•Track and report fundraising progress regularly, providing timely updates and data-driven insights to steer strategic planning and improve performance.
•In collaboration with the Director of Development, ensure appropriate gift processing and tracking,donor acknowledgment and recognition, and reporting and analysis of gifts and donor records in Raiser's Edge.
•Coordinate with the Marketing team to update Can Do MS webpages as they pertain to Development Department needs.
•Other duties as assigned.
Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
•Oversee all fundraising events, including event logistics, including SKI for MS, small donor engagements, and third-party events.
•Develop and implement strategies to enhance DIY (Do-It-Yourself) fundraising efforts, empowering supporters to create and promote their fundraising initiatives.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for all fundraisers, providing creative ideas and technical support to enhance their success.
•Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies for all Can Do MS events to achieve revenue goals. Acquire, develop, and retain teams, participants, and top fundraisers. Strengthen fundraising engagement and the event experience.
•Manage and update Team Raiser event webpages independently and/or in coordination with a contractor.
•Leverage Team Raiser's coaching tools to actively encourage and inspire fundraisers in the lead-up to events, enhancing engagement and success rates.
•Attend all SKI for MS events, Alpen Wine, and other third-party events as needed or as determined by the Director of Development and/or the CEO.
•Collaborate closely with the event contractor to ensure seamless execution on the event day,focusing on pre-event preparations and on-site management to deliver a successful and well-organized experience for all participants.
•Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and implement external advertising and promotion strategies for events.
•Identify and coordinate photography and videography for events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
•A minimum of five (5) years of experience in donor management and peer-to-peer fundraising,demonstrating a consistent ability to achieve revenue goals.
•Understanding of key fundraising indicators and the competency to evaluate and interpret campaign outcomes.
•Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools, aiding in donor segmentation and targeting strategies.
•Demonstrated success in crafting personalized donor engagement strategies to improve donor retention and increase fundraising.
•Experience with digital fundraising tools and platforms to enhance donor engagement across various channels.
•Knowledge of current trends in philanthropy.
•Skilled in building and sustaining meaningful relationships.
•Excellent storyteller, writer and proofreader.
•Proficient in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and TeamRaiser, alongside Microsoft Office Suite.
•Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
•Outstanding organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
•Willingness to travel to special events and meetings as needed.
