Our top retail client is looking for a visionary leader with a proven track record in brand management to join their dynamic team as a Brand Director!
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop brands customers connect with, trust and are inspired by. You will do this by being an expert in the customer, category, business and competitor insights to build brands that support the Business, Marketing & Enterprise strategy. The ideal candidate has demonstrated comfort and capability with brands in all stages of growth.
Candidates must be local to Los Angeles or San Bruno.
Responsibilities:
- Create the needed state and data set for the development of new brands and refreshes of existing brands in Apparel and General Merchandise to drive business and brand perception.
- Connect the Customer to the Brand: Be an expert in the customer, category, business and competitor insights to develop brands that support the Business, Marketing & Enterprise strategy.
- Develop and refine brand positioning, brand frameworks and brand narratives for Private Brands in Apparel and General Merchandise.
- Collaborate with Creative and Agency partners to develop visual and verbal identity that reflects each Brand's strategy and positioning. Deliver brand and style guides for brand consistency across all assets and over time.
- Partner with retail marketing to create and execute GTM marketing plans that align to the brand strategy.
- Partner with cross-functional team to develop insights and analytics to create brand health dashboards that will inform the brand development roadmap.
- Attract, vet, establish and manage relationships with talent-led partners for product ventures based on shared purpose and business objectives.
- Partner with the Private Brand development teams in Merchandising, Legal and the Packaging teams to lead the implementation of the Brand's identity into all brand assets. Collaborate with retail marketing, brand strategy, creative and agency partners and other cross-functional partners to execute brand plans with excellence.
- Translate strategies into actionable design briefs. Develop of creative briefs for new brands and brand renovations. Help to socialize and gain alignment to brief.
- Strategic partner and day-to-day collaboration with agency partners to ensure on-time delivery and flawless execution of projects.
- Manage budgets for multiple brands and elevate budget concerns, as needed. Reconcile irregularities within the budget and enforce financial controls. Support in the development of annual budget based on brand roadmaps.
- Continue to refine approach and best methods for consistency across the enterprise for Private Brand marketing work.
Qualifications:
- Experience level: Director
- Minimum 8 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, brand design, business or other related field and 8+ years of work experience in brand strategy or marketing strategy.
- Background in: Brand Marketing, Brand Management, Sales, Consulting, or other leadership development program experience (industry agnostic).
- Understanding of brand strategy development, brand positioning, brand creation, and consumer insights.
- Strong creative acumen and ability to write a compelling strategy brief and assess work against a defined strategy.
- Strong cross-functional relationship building and leading with influence experience and skills. Large, matrixed organization experience a plus
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Business or related field
- strong analytic ability to translate data into meaningful insights and action.
- Experience building brand architecture for brands in complex portfolios.
- Ability to identify and evaluate brand building ideas across Marketing Mix Model and make connections across other brands in portfolio.
- Ability to determine how to use the Marketing Mix Model to achieve brand strategy and goals.
- Ability to work in an ambiguous and dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
- Ability to influence and inspire direct and cross-functional teams.
