Position Purpose: The Advertising Strategist plays a key role in AACN’s marketing and communication initiatives by developing and executing advertising strategies that increase engagement, strengthen brand presence and deliver measurable business results. This role is responsible for creating and managing integrated campaigns across digital and traditional channels, optimizing performance through data-driven insights, and ensuring alignment with B2C and B2B objectives. In partnership with MarComm, Creative Partners and business units, the Advertising Strategist drives strategic and creative advertising initiatives to extend AACN’s reach, maximize return on investment (ROI), and explores new platforms that keep campaigns innovative, effective and mission-focused.
Operates independently with minimal supervision, exercising expert judgment in developing and optimizing complex, multi-channel advertising strategies with a strong focus on measurable ROI. Proactively identifies opportunities and challenges, initiates data-driven action plans and drives measurable results aligned with strategic business goals.

Integrated Advertising Strategy & Management:
- Devise and implement comprehensive advertising strategies across digital platforms (Google Ads: search, display, Performance Max, video; social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) and traditional media to achieve B2C and B2B objectives.
- Manage and optimize advertising budgets across multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and ROI goals.
- Partner with MarComm, Creative Partners and business units to ensure campaigns are cohesive, on brand, and strategically aligned.
- Collaborate with the Creative Partners team to ensure advertising assets align with brand guidelines and resonate with target audiences.
- Provide input on visual design, copywriting, and multimedia needs, and perform some creative and design work as needed to support campaign execution.
- Leverage creative best practices and market research to influence the development of impactful advertising assets.
- Oversee internal house ad placements, scheduling and inventory management on AACN-owned channels to maximize impact and value.
Performance Monitoring, Testing & Optimization:
- Establish benchmarks and KPIs for all campaigns, monitoring performance against business outcomes.
- Conduct A/B and multivariate testing of ad copy, visuals, calls-to-action and targeting.
- Execute ongoing optimization for keywords, placements and audience segmentation.
- Build robust reporting frameworks that link advertising performance to outcomes such as lead generation, conversions, revenue and member growth.
- Collaborate with Insights & Analytics and IT teams to improve attribution models and track cross-channel performance.
- Present performance insights and actionable recommendations to leadership and stakeholders in a clear, compelling format.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Consultation:
- Act as a thought partner with internal business units, advising on how advertising can advance mission, product, program or membership objectives.
- Partner with the Social Engagement Team to ensure organic and paid social campaigns complement each other.
- Collaborate with web, email, social and SEO partners to align digital touchpoints and content discoverability.
- Work with external vendors and agencies, evaluating performance against campaign goals and maximizing ROI.
- Share expertise and mentor colleagues on advertising best practices, fostering stronger team-wide capabilities.
SEO, Content Integration & Advertising Innovation:
- Ensure advertising campaigns and landing pages are optimized for search engines to increase visibility and effectiveness.
- Partner with content and web teams to align messaging, keywords, and SEO strategies across paid and organic channels.
- Monitor keyword trends, search behavior, and content opportunities that support both traffic growth and conversions.
- Stay current with industry trends, platform updates and emerging advertising technologies.
- Pilot and test new channels and ad formats (e.g., CTV, programmatic video, podcasts, influencer partnerships) to expand AACN’s reach.
- Recommend and implement innovative approaches to enhance targeting, engagement and campaign performance.
Skills Required:
- Ability to develop and execute comprehensive advertising strategies across digital and traditional channels that align with organizational goals and drive measurable outcomes.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and external partners, including ad agencies and vendors, to ensure cohesive campaign execution.
- Ability to manage complex budgets and resources efficiently, ensuring optimal allocation and maximum ROI.
- Ability to analyze campaign performance data, optimize strategies, and provide actionable insights using advertising and analytics tools.
- Ability to integrate SEO strategies into advertising campaigns to enhance digital visibility, collaborating with content and marketing teams.
- Expertise in Google Ads (search, display, Performance Max, video) including bidding strategies, keyword research, ad assets and platform updates.
- Strong expertise in social media advertising platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube), including audience targeting and platform-specific tools.
- Up-to-date understanding of advertising trends, digital marketing innovations, and ad technologies tailored to B2C, B2B, and healthcare audiences.
- Proficiency in creative tools such as Canva and Adobe InDesign, with the ability to collaborate in a creative environment and provide art direction when needed.
- Creative mindset for contributing to campaign concepts, messaging and design with strategic intent.
- Excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels, present clear reporting and recommendations, and align teams on advertising goals.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google Workspace.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degrees or certifications in digital marketing and/or advertising are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, advertising or related fields is required.
- Demonstrated experience managing digital, social media and traditional advertising campaigns.
- Previous track record of creating and executing marketing and advertising plans that drive organizational results preferred.
- Background in healthcare, membership associations, or nonprofit environments is a plus.

Total Compensation:
The target pay range for this role is $87,000 - $108,000
